SLIDER

Welcome

What started as a digital diary to document a newfound journey as a stay at home mom / wife has quickly evolved into my own little corner on the internet where I share all that life brings my way -- the good, the bad, and those "aha!" moments. All with a hint of sarcasm, a dash of truth and bold European wit. Thanks for following along!

Introducing "In the Classroom" Blog Series

Hi friends!

If you’ve watched some of my more recent instagram stories, then you probably know that I’ve recently become a homeschool teacher! Long story short, my youngest brothers (ages 7 and 6) were struggling a bit in school and falling behind, so my parents wanted to try homeschool.

Some kids need more one on one time from their educators. Learning styles differ and in a classroom of 20+ children, some kids get discouraged and stop trying to keep up because everyone seems so far ahead. This can lead to children acting out, feeling upset and hopeless. One of my little brothers came home one day & asked if we thought he was smart. When we started noticing this behavior time and time again, we decided to do something about it.

After talking it over with the school, the teachers and our entire family, we all decided that we’d try too see if it would work for my brothers. Because both my parents are very busy, they’ve enlisted my help to teach part time and here I am — a homeschool teacher and if I’m going to be honest, I’m really loving it! We’ve been doing it for about a month & a half and the boys are loving it. My parents are happy with the transition and progress they’ve seen in the boys in such a short period of time.

Because, I’ve always known that I want to homeschool my own children, this is a perfect way to practice and get the hang of it. I also thought this would be a great series / opportunity for the blog. Because we pulled out the kids mid school year, we’ve decided to pull curriculum from all sorts of sources to get through this year.

I’m going to be sharing what we’re doing in our classroom, our curriculum, units and projects with you all. It’s a good way for me to organize my teacher plans as well as share with those who may be interested in homeschool and don’t know where to start.

If you'd like to follow along with us on our homeschool journey, we'd be happy to have you come along!
